Question:

What do you think would have been the reaction from Harper, the Conservatives, and the right-wing of this country if, in the last days of 2005, Paul Martin had prorogued parliament rather than face a confidence motion he knew he was going to lose?

Just asking.

Probably the same reaction they had when he simply ignored a non-confidence vote he lost.

Hmmm, I don't know. Would that be the same as giving a cabinet post to a floor crosser, giving the eact number of seat he needed before holding a confidence motion he knew he was going to lose?

Just asking.

Question: What do you think would have been the rection from the Liberals and the progressives of this country, if the Conservatives gave the Bloc a billion more in transfer payments, 6 senate seats, AND final say in everything in parliament???????

Anon,

About the same as if the Liberals gave the Bloc the moon, given that there's as much evidence they're going to do that as there is that they'll do anything you just said.

BTW, there is ZERO chance any Bloc supporter would EVER take a Senate appointment. If you think the Bloc wants Senate seats, then you have no understanding of the Bloc Quebecois whatsoever.

Which begs the question - What more do they want for their end of the bargain?
