Foreboding - Scotland may separate from the UK

Sit up and take note, as this is eerily relevant given the current debate that has been raised.

Well, some things that must be noted. Scotland, even after devolution, has less control over their governance than Alberta. Think about that. Those two-bit so-called Alberta separatists already have it better than a nation that can brag a coherent, recorded culture for hundreds upon hundreds of years.

And at the same time the English was in an almost daily tizzy over Scottish 'control' of Westminster because there wasn't any English devolution.

BTW, may I suggest another source, one more local than the Washington Post? That WP author doesn't really understand the limits of devolution, nor does he quite get the left-right dimension of Scottish politics very well.
