Double Standards
So, if the Muslim community gets an apology from the pope, as well as his "total and profound respect," why not the gay community? It's a good question, and I think it deserves an answer. After all, according to the Catholics, the Muslims are just as hellbound as we sodomites - rejecting Christ and loving people of the same gender are both hellfire-able offences - and therefore, one assumes, just as sinful.
"What about the bigotry he encourages every time he refers to the biblical belief that homosexuality is sinful and ignores disease, poverty and war to set up conferences particularly to address the life threatening issue of gay marriage?
If Pope Benedict XVI is going to apologise to the Muslim community he must be consistent and apologise to the gay community for every hate crime he encourages."

Wrong.
I think hell will freeze over before any Pope will admit to hate crimes against Homosexuals. Their close minded attitude is quite apparent given the one word comment that precedes mine . Something about love the sinner, hate the sin seems to absolve them in their own minds from their prejudiced, dogmatic views. Isn't that how they get around the complicity during the second world war? P.S. I am not homosexual, however I have spent many enjoyable years with loved ones who are and I abhor the prejudice that my friends and family face every day.
So, what are you saying, they should believe it's okay to be gay?
Gays don't riot and kill people when their delicate sensibilities are offended.
Shan, are you in associated with suzanne.
Doesn't matter, but one question. What would you do if the love of your life, your son or daughter, advised you that they were gay? Would you turn your back on years of love? Is your love conditional?
If your child had dsylexia would you still love him/her even thought they could never fulfill your own fantasies?
If so, you are one person that I hope to never meet.
Children are not things to be controlled. They are human and they are what they are, regardless of what you or I want them to be. If Jesus and God really hated the homosexual lifestyle, then why did they - in the case of God - create them, and why - in the case of Jesus, did he forgive all sinners?
Hi Goodgrief.
That's like saying "Why did God make atheists", "Why did God make polytheists?"
I don't hate anyone, but it doesn't mean I have to like what they do, or how they live.
And I'm not Christian, so I don't believe Jesus forgave all sinners.
And Suzanne and I do not know each other.
