Afternoon laugh
Check out Big City Lib's brilliant post on the Conservatives' age of consent law. It so perfectly encapsulates one of the major flaws with the legislation; it's a solution looking for a problem; it's looking to make victims out of people who clearly aren't. I can't confirm this for myself, but every straight boy I've ever talked to about it confirms for me that they would have loved to bang the hot teacher, and can't imagine why anyone beyond prudish sexaphobes would want to criminalize such a thing. Seriously, Vic Toews, stop trying to take your sexual frustration out on others!
Oh, and just a small warning. Faggots, if you're gonna click on that link, avert your eyes a bit. I was fine with it (I can certainly appreciate beauty) but I know others are a bit more squeamish.

It might be natural for teenage boys to be thinking about nailing their hot french teacher, but it was illegal for that teacher to touch them in anyway even before the Tories changed the law because she was in a position of authority.
If that hot teacher was a 27 year old man who was making out with a 15 year old girl, he would be a pedophile, I don't see a lot of differnce with an older woman doing the same thing to a child.
BigcityLib seems to be from the Robin Sharpe school of pedophille defense.
Conservatives should bring forth a law that people who steal from revenue canada cannot be attorney general.
Acually Bee Gee it is not a brilliant post. To me, BCL's post is coming from a person that can see their own sexual frustrations rising as the age group that fullfills their sexual fanticies is no longer there for them!!!
Liberal in Toronto pretty much sums up my views on the issue. It's natural for teenage boys and girls to be attracted to adults, especially those in positions of authority. However it should always be illegal for these adults to engage in any sexual acts with underaged teenagers. Some may find the idea of a 14 year old boy fooling around with his 27+ year old female teacher amusing or "cute", but reverse the genders and nearly everyone considers it a disgusting, shameful act. In reality the act is wrong either way, and the difference is simply based on cultural norms.
The new legislation allows for 14 year olds to engage in sexual acts with 19 year olds, that in itself could be a bit of a stretch, but it's tolerable. There are simply no cases in society today where an adult should have any excuse for relations with a 14 year old. Any room for exceptions only allows predators to manipulate their victims in court, as we have seen in Canadian cases (many from Vancouver, for some reason). The act must be made illegal in all cases to protect underaged victims.
BigCityLib seems ot have some personal interest in opposing legislation that would help protect children from pedophiles. If this is the case, people such as him will think twice acting out on any such desires they may have. When the law is clear, people will be less inclined to attempt to stretch it.
Serious side question: is the bare side of a female body really that offensive to gay people? I mean any of those pride parades feature members of both genders dancing around while barely clothed in public. One would assume that gay men and women would have more acceptance of the bare bodies of both genders, no?
Aidan: No, it isn't offensive at all. Considering we just had our Pride weekend here and I was subjected to numerous images of fat, hairy, half-naked men (they more than outweighed the few hotties in the crowd), an image of a lovely naked female is petty nice.
And I wonder if BigCityLib has a daughter. Perhaps if she gets knocked up by the Phys Ed teacher when she's 14, he'll throw a party for her.
